R&D Manager – Cell & Gene Therapy

Job Function:

We are hiring an R&D Manager, Cell and Gene Therapy. The R&D Manager will be responsible for all activities related to prototype development and production, and support of manufacturing process development. The person in this role manages development & delivery of liquid and powder prototypes.

Job Duties:

  • Lead a team of scientists focused on product development (media and reagents) for the cell and gene therapy market
  • Manage projects within the portfolio through the Design Control process
  • Lead and manage customer facing projects in cell and gene therapy area
  • Generate new ideas to expand the product portfolio
  • Foster collaboration and team building, liaise with adjacent departments to successfully transfer products
  • Coach and mentor scientists, remove roadblocks and create a highly functional team
  • Present at external scientific events, drive collaborations with outside collaborators


  • PhD in Immunology, Virology, Biochemistry or related field
  • More than 10 years of experience in the field of cell and gene therapy
  • Experience in stem cells, adoptive cell therapies, T cells, CAR-T, NK cells, dendritic cells, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and flow cytometry
  • Knowledge of gene therapy including AAV and LV viral vectors
  • More than 5 years of team management experience
  • Experience with all aspects of cell-culture product research, development and support
  • Experience working with cross functional departments
  • Successful track record of new product development and launch, from concept through pilot production, scale up and transfer to manufacturing
  • Leadership and team management ability: compassionate and empathetic, ability to create team environment, remove roadblocks and foster positive relations
  • Analytical thinking, market differentiation and business oriented
  • Experience with cGMP and QA compliance
  • Excellent communication skills required
