MSS Manufacturing Assistant

Job Description:

We are hiring a Manufacturing Assistant. The Manufacturing Assistant will be responsible for manufacturing both powder and liquid prototype and cell culture media products. Support MSS production scheduler/planner in requesting raw material transfer/delivery, creating, scheduling, and closing process orders for MSS production.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows all safety procedures and works in a safe manner including wearing all required personal protective equipment.
  • Performs inspection of raw materials and packaging supplies for each batch, and maintains inventory stock with accuracy using the SAP Electronic Batch Record (EBR).
  • Assembles buckets, boxes, bottles for packaging.
  • Performs torqueing, shrink-seal, tube sealing, labeling, packaging, and other equipment and ensures that they operate within specifications outlined in SOPs.
  • Performs calibration on all required equipment including pH meters and osmometers and documents results accurately.
  • Follows manufacturing protocols to formulate (weighing of solids and/or liquids), fill, label and package cell culture media.
  • Formulates liquid media following an EBR; stages and weighs liquid and powder components as instructed by EBR, performs pH and Osmolality adjustments, fills liquid products using aseptic technique, packages finished product as instructed by EBR.
  • Safely and effectively operates steam autoclave, centrifuge, mixers, heaters, pH/Osmolality meters and other equipment as necessary
  • Record all information accurately using logbooks, controlled forms or an EBR, according to Standard Operating Procedures or Desk Top Instructions.
  • Assures packaged product is palletized; identified and boxed per MSS procedure and stored in the proper storage location.
  • Assures that all logbooks are maintained and that all required documentation is properly filled out in a timely manner, accurately and legibly following established principals of FISI Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Coordinates and performs routine equipment maintenance.
  • Understands and follows procedures to ensure that chemicals are handled properly.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area and performs necessary housekeeping duties.
  • Assist Production scheduler/planner in planning, scheduling, closing, coordinating and monitoring the movement of materials and products through the complete production cycle.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Lead or Supervisor.

Experience/Education:

  • High school diploma, AA degree or college BS degree
  • Good work history
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with 2-4 years of relevant experience (medical device, food/vitamin processing or pharmaceutical preferred)
  • Knowledge of Metric System
  • Ability to understand current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently
  • Good oral and written communication skills
