This product is for research use only.

As it reduces neurogenesis when administered in rats etc., it is used in preparation of model animals of schizophrenia.

In patients with psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, attenuation of sensory filter function that shuts unnecessary noises in the surroundings out of consciousness is observed.

This sensory filter function may be evaluated by a physiological test known as prepulse inhibition (PPI) weakening reaction to frightening sounds.

The decrease in this PPI is correlated to decrease in neurogenesis.
