Logistics Coordinator

Job Function:

We are hiring a Logistics Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating, booking and tracking high volume of domestic and international, worldwide shipments from starting point to final destinations in the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible. You will provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by facilitating accurate and timely shipment and delivery of products and materials. You must be organized, collaborative and a great team player.

Job Duties:

  • Schedule and monitor pickup, delivery and distribution of products and materials
  • Assess order and shipping status and provide communication to other departments as required
  • Provide freight quote estimates as requested by sales, customer service or shipping personnel
  • Coordinate shipment cancellations and changes
  • Process freight charges on time
  • Support customer service and shipping departments to ensure documentation, packaging and other customer requirements are noted and completed as necessary
  • Ensure tracking and tracing of shipments to international and domestic destinations, expediting orders when necessary
  • Handle customer service requests relative to the transportation of cargo
  • Analyze and recommend the best route/carrier based on cost/transit time and quality of service to meet customer deadlines
  • Work closely with customer service agents, sales team and customers to give real-time updates on shipments
  • File insurance and carrier claims related to shipping activities
  • Provide excellent communication and support to internal departments and to customers, including support for complaint investigation and resolution
  • Research and resolve freight and billing issues related to shipments
  • Review carrier and 3PL invoices for accuracy of charges and account coding
  • Manage completion, organization, and maintenance of all transactions, paperwork, reports, records and documentation to meet compliance standards and business requirements
  • Evaluate freight or inventory costs associated with transit times to ensure that costs are appropriate
  • Other duties as required and assigned

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience in the import/export industry, freight forwarding, logistics and supply chain coordination, warehouse management or international customer service and logistics
  • Knowledge of standard practices related to customs brokerage, shipping and logistics
  • Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • High caliber customer service focus
  • Detail oriented to ensure accuracy in shipments, scheduling and expediting orders
  • A high sense of urgency and ability/willingness to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes
  • Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities
  • Experience with modern office practices, procedures and equipment
  • Basic filing and record-keeping techniques
