DNA Extractor Kit
The DNA Extractor Kit is designed for extraction of residual host cell DNA in biological samples and biopharmaceuticals. Using Sodium Iodide as a chaotropic agent, the kit offers high quality and high recovery of DNA isolated from biological samples, without the use of phenol or chloroform. The entire extraction can be processed in a single tube, and extraction completed in 60-90 minutes. The extracted DNA can be quantified by qPCR, which is an established, standard method for quantifying DNA. The kit can also be used for DNA extraction from serum. Sodium iodide method meets US Pharmacopeia standards for residual DNA testing.
The kit offers high recovery of DNA even from samples containing only a very small amount of DNA. The entire extraction step is completed with a single tube for 60-90 minutes. The extracted DNA can be quantified by qPCR or threshold systems from Molecular Devices, LLC.

Basic operation of DNA extraction by sodium iodide method
- Add sodium iodide, a chaotropic ion and deteregents to solubilize protein and lipids
- Add 2-propanol and DNA is coprecipitated with glycogen
- Collect DNA pellets
