Director of Worldwide Medical Sales

We are hiring a Worldwide Director of Medical Sales. This position, which can be based anywhere in the United States, Europe, or Southeast Asia, will be responsible for achievement of FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific worldwide medical sales through all channels - direct, distribution and affiliates. The Director will develop and maintain strategic accounts and key opinion leader relationships for long term business development. The person in this role will be responsible for global sales performance of all FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific medical products including Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Cytogenetics in all markets. The Director will participate with other senior managers to establish strategic sales plans and objectives. In areas of control the Director will make final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure sales objectives are achieved.

Job Duties:

  • Develop strategic sales plans and Regional tactics based on Company goals and worldwide marketing plan
  • Input to strategic and tactical marketing plans before engaging regional direct, distributed, and affiliates for annual sales plans
  • Define resources required to achieve sales and margin growth, increase market share in all Regions and promote customer satisfaction
  • Develop and secure approval of sales and operational expense budgets for geographies and product lines
  • Sales leadership, including but not limited to the following:
    • Develop quotas (district = region and territory), sales forecast submissions, staffing requirements, develop performance metrics and refine reporting to assure sales success
    • Responsible for the allocation of budgeted expenses as determined by the company budget
    • Assure maintenance of customer databases and their use in Sales and Marketing tactics
    • Form objectives and plan sales meetings and sales training
    • Maintain Target & Key customer relationships, while developing and implementing strategies for expanding Company’s customer base
    • Actively participate in large industry consortia and third party collaborations with key opinion leaders and business partners
    • Attend and participate in worldwide seminars and Congresses; update field knowledge and business activity, expand industry relationships - including identification of potential Key Opinion Leaders
    • Develop and maintain strong CRM systems for direct and distributed business to integrate strong sales metrics, engage technical support as needed, monitor appropriate activity, and flow through to accurate forecasting activity
    • Develop and document standards for direct and distributed sales systems
  • Marketing support, including but not limited to the following:
    • Analyze marketing programs and input on sales to increase effectiveness and align strategy and implementation across regions
    • Negotiate contract terms with outside agencies and suppliers and distribution organizations
    • Provide a key voice on new product and service ideas required for successful Worldwide Quota achievement; participate in product development committees for assigned product areas
  • Provide input on new product and service ideas; participate in product development committees for assigned product areas; provide input to NPDP groups and R&D on development as needed
  • Provide management and career development plans for direct reports; conduct routine coaching toward achievement of annual objectives
  • Ensure representation of department in interdepartmental projects
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of key competitors and expand strategies to build competitive barriers
  • Oversee and participate in refining sales compensation to achieve plan(s) while motivating and rewarding individual performance
  • Interview and aid recruitment of employee candidates for department positions; Participate in interview and selection process for key marketing roles


  • BA/BS degree in a life science, supplemented with study in business/marketing; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of technical, marketing and/or sales experience and background appropriate to the specific needs of the product line
  • 5+ years of supervisory/managerial experience
  • Experience with global ART and Cytogenetics markets
  • Knowledge of cell biology and reproductive biology
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Outstanding leadership skills
