FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific Goes Walking for Kids with Cancer

FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific employees recently took part in the 23rd Annual Reaching for the Cure 5K walk to raise awareness and funds for children fighting cancer. Held each year by the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, the event went virtual in 2021 due to the pandemic, with participants using a mobile app to go the distance within their own neighborhoods and raise funds. Together with many other community-minded teams, FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific employees are proud to have helped the foundation reach its $200,000 goal.

The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation was founded in 1982 by physicians, parents, and community leaders to fund life-saving research into the 12 types and over 100 subtypes of childhood cancer. Events like Reaching for the Cure 5K help the foundation increase awareness and fund researchers developing new treatments and therapies for these young patients. Because of such research, there are now more than 500,000 pediatric cancer survivors in the United States as of 2020.

FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific encourages a culture of caring in support of causes like the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. We enjoyed participating in the foundation’s virtual 5K walk, and look forward to the next time we can support the fight against childhood cancer.
