FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific Center of Excellence
FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific significantly expanded its R&D capabilities and more than doubled its footprint in 2021 with the addition of a new building dedicated to new product development and new technologies. With over 30 scientists and 48,200 sq ft., the Center of Excellence hosts research in assisted reproductive technologies, cell and gene therapy, and bioproduction.
Cross-Discipline Teams Dedicated to Innovating in IVF
With state-of-the-art equipment and scientists supporting large- and small- scale cell culture systems, FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific has a collaborative incubator for new ideas and product development that goes beyond just expertise in In Vitro Fertilization. With this cross-discipline approach, new concepts are being explored from more robust IVF models to the next generation of media.
The Assisted Reproductive Technology team itself is a blend of embryology, biology, engineering and chemistry backgrounds to allow for a holistic view of media and product development for new IVF solutions. Besides new product development, the team is provides critical support on our existing products – making sure to keep existing products updated with modern requirements and needs.
R&D… So Much More Than Just Research and Development
- Support Regulatory Affairs
- Run Clinical Trials
- Support Quality Control investigations
- Test new raw material
Our goal is a 100% first cycle success rate.
“ALL IN means bringing our team together with a focus on the future, and not the next 6 months. While there have been steady improvements in IVF over the past 30 years, there are many opportunities for improvement to help realize patients’ dreams worldwide of starting a family.”
- Bob Newman, Chief Scientific Officer
Our latest interview with Chief Scientific Officer at FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific, Bob Newman, showcases the ways we continue to build a stronger, more robust foundation that brings scientists and experts with different skills to foster a holistic, collaborative environment that prioritizes creativity and innovation.
Innovation in Media
A low-lactate, continuous culture media indicated for use from post-retrieval through day 5/6 of embryo culture.
Studies have shown that the introduction of gametes to a low-lactate environment on Day 0 improves clinical outcomes
Vitrification media based on innovations in human culture media and gamete handling, rather than outdated animal culture media solutions. With its CSCM base and dual buffer solution, Vit Kit NX complements CSCM-NX and Multipurpose Handling Medium to provide a consistent system for gametes and embryos to be in from start to finish.
