Senior Industrial Engineer

Job Description:

We are hiring for a Sr. Industrial Engineer. The Sr. Industrial Engineer will design, develop, and implement new processes for new products, to ensure timely completion of prototypes and associated costing and manufacturing procedures. The person in this role will provide classical Industrial Engineering support for the implementation of Lean Manufacturing. Additionally, the Sr. Industrial Engineer develops labor standards, B.O.M. standards, performance factors and performance measurement and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, engineer, and implement new manufacturing processes on for the medical products industry to ensure timely completion of prototypes and associated costing and manufacturing procedures.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing; develop labor standards, bill of materials standards, performance factors and performance measurement and reporting.
  • Apply key industrial/manufacturing engineering techniques such as methods improvement, process improvement, layout analysis and planning, standard cost development, analysis, engineering economy, statistics, statistical quality control, time study, production planning/machine balancing, and simulation, to improve productivity and cost efficiency in the medical device manufacturing process.
  • Design production processes that maximize efficiency and reduce waste, develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades, and design control systems to minimize costs and production issues.
  • Develop, design and produce standards in cooperation with management and production, design the layout of facilities, determine personnel requirements, train staff for new processes and provide instructions and Standard Operating Procedures/Desktop Instructions, manage process documentation and prepare production reports.
  • Provide industrial engineering support for the implementation of lean manufacturing; develop labor standards, BOM standards, performance factors and performance measurement.  
  • Propose future state with process improvements using lean techniques.
  • Develop and implement powder lump crusher to solve lumping issues in Raw materials by providing technological upgrades.
  • Train engineering team and providing instructions for best use of SAP to seek data. Formulate and provide budgetary information to operations and management.
  • Design control systems to minimize costs and production issues. Analyze, develop, support and improve production and information systems to reduce costs and increase productivity.
  • Construct process flow diagrams for current and future state by using value stream mapping as a tool for identifying gaps within various operational processes.
  • Develop Capacity Model for understanding current capacity and for future capacity expansion per business growth. Perform detail level NCR (Non-conformance Report) analysis using 6M methodology to identify improvement targets by occurrences and cost impact.
  • Utilize value stream mapping as a tool for identifying gaps within various operational processes. Develop Capacity Models. Utilize JD Edwards, Access, Power BI, Jeeves, SAP AutoCAD, SolidWorks & Pro-E Minitab.

Experience/Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering and four (4) years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering degree and six (6) years of experience.
  • Must also have experience with each of the following:  Application of industrial engineering and lean manufacturing techniques; analyzing, developing, supporting and improving production and information systems; utilizing value stream mapping as a tool for identifying gaps within various operational processes; developing Capacity Models; utilizing JD Edwards, Access, Power BI, Jeeves, SAP AutoCAD, SolidWorks & Pro-E Minitab.

 For California, the base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 annually. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
