Associate Director of Accounting

Job Description:

We are hiring an Associate Director of Accounting who will be responsible for all areas relating to the preparation of FISI’s financial statements on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis, review of variance analysis including account reconciliations, etc., and controllership of all areas related to financial reporting for consolidated statements, Japanese and U.S corporate income tax returns, Japanese consumption taxes/U.S sales taxes, Japanese and U.S property taxes, auditing, transfer pricing, etc. This individual will be expected to manage the accounting team towards efficient and value-added processes, and interact effectively with all levels of the organization within the company as well as the department. This individual will also work collaboratively with functional teams and business groups in providing technical and operational accounting guidance to meet business objectives while complying with accounting standards and confidential discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include all fiscal period close processes, financial reporting, financial systems maintenance, internal controls and regulatory compliance procedures, tax reporting, and integration of all corporate controllership initiatives
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close & financial reporting. General controllership responsibilities for producing timely, accurate, and GAAP compliant financial results for all fiscal periods
  • Ensure variance analysis for PL & BS & CF and actual versus budget/last year/last month
  • Ensure completion & accuracy of all required reports/schedules, both monthly & quarterly reporting to Fujifilm HQ (DIVA/UNITE) and regulatory
  • Manage tax filings such as corporate income tax in US & Japan, sales tax in US/consumption tax in Japan/ VAT in EU
  • Oversee the policies and procedures on fixed assets and account payable
  • Support the transfer pricing model between US and EU/China/Japan
  • Oversee all the reconciliations including banking accounts using the accounting tool “Floqast”
  • Oversee all audit procedures
  • Assist with various areas of budget and forecast development, including balance sheet, cash flows, and other areas
  • Manage Internal Controls including payment approval / Policies including accounting policy & Procedures
  • Recruiting, training, motivating and leading staff in the execution of assigned duties. Management/Staff Development. Supervise and develop staff. Ensure staff is completing required functions and developing their technical and professional skills
  • Provide leadership/management for a variety of ad hoc initiatives, including but not limited to financial systems improvements, process enhancements, accounting structures for new business models and relationships, reconciliation diagnostics, and the like
  • Other (Systems support, special projects, issues resolution)

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Two to three years’ consecutive experience performing and managing accounting team in a similar setting at a company with 100 employees or more
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
  • Accounting Proficiency in financial detailing and standard accounting such as US GAAP, TAX, Transfer Pricing
  • Basic functions of PC & SAP

For California, the base salary range for this position is $18.00 to $29 hourly. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
