Job Function:
We are hiring a Project Manager for our Custom Executions Team. The Project Manager organizes, tracks, expedites, and manages active custom products flowing from Customer Service through Operations and to the customer. A key aspect of the role is initial clarification and confirmation of requirements [known as the CMA or Custom Media Agreement process]. This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel and will require direct customer communication and a highly team-focused approach. The Project Manager must demonstrate strong business and customer focus, and a good understanding of operational capabilities and processes is required.

 

Job Duties:

  • Track and analyze custom product activities, including past sales and trends
  • Coordinate among various departments -- Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, QC, and QA -- to ensure that active custom orders are flowing through the process in a timely fashion
  • Enforce a safe culture/environment that promotes active, open and honest communication by all stakeholders
  • Organize, compile, and revise (as necessary) the up-front information gathering and customer acknowledgement of custom order requirements [e.g,. the "CMA process"]
  • Provide regular project updates and information to customers, management, Sales, Customer Service, and Marketing as requested
  • Resolve discrepancies in information and/or expectations in terms of custom order processing and fulfillment; negotiate as required in the effort to prioritize actions required to meet customer requirements for custom product provision
  • Host/manage the routine forum/meeting that ensures alignment among key functions required to execute against custom product demands
  • Participate in product [primarily ‘custom’] forecasting through the designated (e.g, S&OP) process
  • Ensure that assigned projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Ensure compliance with NPD process
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track and report progress
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

 

Experience/Education:

  • BS/BA degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry) or Marketing (emphasis on technical/scientific products) strongly preferred; AA or high school diploma/GED plus relevant direct experience may be considered
  • 5+ years relevant project management experience required; Bioprocess, medical device, or pharma manufacturing experience preferred
  • Internal candidates for this position should have experience in Customer Service and/or Operations (preferably a Planning function) for a minimum of 1 - 3 years; basic knowledge of how ‘custom orders’ are processed is key
  • External candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years in a position in a Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, or environment involving ‘custom’ [make-to-order or engineer-to-order] products
  • Commercial (Marketing, Sales, Customer Service) background and/or experience in a medical device, life sciences or related industry is preferred
  • High degree of organizational skills (planning, coordinating, tracking) related to time-sensitive creation/production of products used in a technical environment
  • Strong cognitive/analytical and strategic thinking skills; confidence and assertiveness to render timely decisions around complex situations
  • Creativity in overcoming obstacles and barriers to progress
  • Experience using relevant project management tools, such as MS Project
  • Basic understanding of cell culture bioprocessing and standard cell culture media preparation methods
  • New product development process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and productivity software
  • Understanding of cGMP
  • Must have proven ability to build relationships and guide teams which include representatives from multiple functional areas
