Job Function:
We are hiring for a Product Planner. The Product Planner is responsible for managing global master production schedule, manufacturing capacity planning, and periodic reporting of key metrics. The Product Planner will support Fujifilm Irvine Scientific’s growth by developing global production schedules and leading efforts to optimize manufacturing capacity utilization while delivering superior internal customer satisfaction. To be successful, this individual will be required to be detailed-oriented, data driven, self-motivated, cost conscious, respectful, and work well in a complex but dynamic team environment.

 

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with S&OP / Demand Planner in detailed sales & marketing demand forecast and manufacturing output projections (Planned vs Actual)
  • Collaborate with Materials Planner in understanding materials requirements for rolling forecast periods and work with materials suppliers where necessary
  • Create a periodic dashboard for supply vs. commitment that includes inventory levels as well as build plan projections and days of inventory projections (planned production vs actual supply)
  • Establish standard metrics for bi-weekly reporting on supply vs. commitments (actual vs promised)
  • Create a periodic report identifying planned projections vs. actual manufacturing utilization (planned vs. actual use of manufacturing capacity)
  • Track and analyze finished goods inventories by categories and work to maintain optimum monthly E&O
  • Partner with Demand Planner to capture special materials purchase requests and ensure proper charge back of materials plus tracking of reason codes in the event of customer cancellation or decides not to use the materials for any reason
  • Provide and maintain detailed master production schedule (MPS) for all products in CA, Japan, and Europe manufacturing sites
  • Optimize manufacturing network capability utilization based on business needs and conditions, which may vary, based on customer input
  • Develop and implement logistics and planning tools through MS Project, spreadsheet and relational databases for supply chain, procurement and operations teams
  • Collaborate with IT, QA, Procurement, and other teams to support the implementation of SAP while providing input on planning and capacity related topics
  • Create and maintain planning and logistics metrics to enable process improvements
  • Establish planning parameters, minimize variability, and align materials management, demand planning and sourcing to ensure minimum financial impact and uninterrupted manufacturing operations
  • Support changes in BOM, demand, and supply, perform planning assessment as needed; support raw material inventory and supply control as required
  • In collaboration with Demand Planner, develop/support product forecasts and maintain long-term inventory plans
  • Coordinate activities required to support the manufacture, packaging, labeling, shipping, and distribution of R&D, marketing, and manufacturing products

 

Experience/Education:

  • BS/BA required; degree in supply chain, operations, mathematics, economics, purchasing, finance, or related life science strongly preferred
  • APICS or ISM certification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of planning experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or equivalent role is preferred
  • Production scheduling experience in ERP system or other related inventory planning tools
  • Competent and knowledgeable in utilizing best practices in inventory management, APICS, or other supply chain organization experience
  • In depth knowledge of material requirements planning and production scheduling
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent MS Office and MS Project skills
