Planning Manager

Job Function:
We are hiring for a Planning Manager. The Planning Manager is responsible for optimization of material and service cost including raw material inventory levels and location control to support production schedules and customer expectations. The person in this role will also negotiate supply agreements and monitor supplier performance. The Planning Manager position encompasses coordinating inventory control and purchasing activities with production and other internal customers.


Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction as it relates to S&OP Planning, Supply Planning, and Production Scheduling activities with team and internal stakeholders
  • Perform multi-site and multi-level planning to ensure supply from suppliers and internal sites to achieve >95% service level for commercially marketed products while achieving optimum service level for Marketing and R&D products
  • Monitor goods receipt, prioritizing, and monitoring raw materials release from Quality to ensure materials are available for use according to planned time horizons
  • Maintain planning parameter data in ERP system (customer, Lead-time, SKUs, tax/VAT, delivery dates, payment terms, etc.)
  • Participate in key internal meetings with industrial, customs, and R&D teams to expedite open raw materials deliveries with Procurement in order to meet customer demand
  • Contribute to optimum level of order turnaround time and EMS raw materials delivery time while meeting corporate KPI requirements
  • Ensure planning data parameters, inventory accuracy, Open Purchase Order tracking, and Master Data management in ERP software while collaborating with Procurement, Planning, and Materials Management teams
  • Generate up to 18 months of designated raw materials rolling forecast for commercial, EMS, and R&D purposes and provide data to key suppliers
  • Analyze demand regularly and identify inconsistencies and data with forecasts vs. actual usage
  • Generate scrape report while maintaining reason codes for non-usage or expiration
  • Maintain inventory accuracy report in regards to quantity on hand, order point, and safety stock
  • Manage and ensure optimum standard and safety stock inventory levels are maintained based on material criticality, lead time, and frequency of use
  • Ensure purchase orders are made either with EOQ, MOQ, or process driven quantities
  • Monitor and provide data summary report of active raw materials inventory level and install measures to reduce excess and obsolete (E&O) of raw materials due to expiry, cancellation of usage, or postponement of needs, etc.
  • Accountable for publishing results and glide paths for Planning KPIs such as Customer Service, Production Conformance, Inventory Days on Hand Status, WIP, E&O, and Inventory Aging status reports
  • Maintain materials lifecycle status in ERP (i.e. create, update, obsolete)
  • Work closely with the Demand Planner to reduce inconsistencies in the forecast to prevent any negative impact on customer replenishment / customer service
  • Work closely with QA for Finished Goods release
  • Provide supply visibility to the sales and marketing teams at all times; In situations where the demand exceeds supply, discuss and align with the sales teams on the allocation of raw materials
  • Facilitate development and execution of accurate and data-based supply/demand forecasting to enable capacity planning, inventory target setting, and performance reporting
  • Develop and standardize global metrics to KPIs, including external benchmarks, to monitor performance and allow for data driven decision making



  • BS/BA in business or equivalent
  • APICS certification
  • 6-10 years of supply chain experience preferably in a cGMP and FDA regulated environment
  • 4-6 years of supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of experience using MRP and ERP systems
  • Solid experience in Demand and Supply Planning, S&OP facilitation and S&OP implementation, ideally from healthcare industry
  • Demonstrated capability to work cross-functionally and foster new and existing business relationships
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret data and develop reports
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders at all different levels
